Invest in a mental health solution that works

Before Blue provides an innovative workplace solution to mental health that builds practical skills for lasting progress. The program is about more than just results – it’s also about genuine connection and learning, with employees supported on a weekly basis to build skills and strategies to improve their wellbeing in lasting, meaningful ways.

The unique program offers up to 8 personalised coaching sessions using powerful, evidence-based methods and rich content to address your employee's unique challenges, boost their lasting, everyday mental health and make real progress.

Our coaches are specially trained in Low-intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (LiCBT), which is grounded in years of research and supports an early intervention approach to mental health. This builds lasting resilience and coping skills, helping people get on top of everyday challenges before they stack up.

Program structure

Before Blue is a multiweek program of support with a dedicated coach, across 8 sessions (up to) across an initial 6 weeks with follow ups at 1 and 6 months.

Initial session

At the first session with the coach the participant will:

  • complete questionnaires
  • talk through their challenges - choosing one or two issues to focus on
  • develop a problem statement - defining exactly what the issues are
  • create a plan based on their needs - including practical actions to tackle the issues
  • start coaching.

The coach will then talk to the participant about booking follow up sessions to work through the program and monitor progress.

If the employee needs different support than what Before Blue can offer, their coach will help them find a more appropriate service.

Five weekly sessions - up to 30 minutes

Each week the participant will work with their Before Blue coach to review their progress and work through their planned actions.

The coach will give them practical activities to complete between sessions.

At the final session, the coach will help them decide whether they need to seek more support. Around 30% of people who complete Before Blue may need more support. This could include talking to the participant's GP or seeing a psychologist.

Online and phone delivery for convenience

The participant can complete the program remotely from anywhere in Australia by phone or video call. Sessions with their coach can be booked between Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm (AEST). The program is closed on public holidays.

Measurable results

At each session the progress of the participant will be reviewed with their mental health coach so they can see how they're tracking. 7 out of 10 people who participate in Before Blue report a significant reduction in symptoms of anxiety and depression.

What is the difference between Before Blue and an EAP?

Before Blue and EAP offer distinct approaches to supporting individuals facing challenges.

Before Blue provides a structured early intervention consisting of up to 8 mental health coaching sessions with the same coach, empowering individuals with practical tools and monitoring progress closely through outcome measures. Rooted in an evidence-based service framework and LiCBT treatment guide, Before Blue ensures a safe, effective and focused approach towards achieving tangible results.

In contrast, EAP usually focuses on immediate stress reduction with an Allied Health clinician (often a counsellor or psychologist rather than a coach), traditionally to manage 'in the moment' distress.
